    Rail Baltic Business Network is organizing an international conference “Business Case: Rail Baltic”

    The Port of Tallinn says Rail Baltic Business Network is organizing an international conference „Business Case: Rail Baltic“ on October 13. The conference starts at 9 a.m. and will be taking place in the main auditorium of Estonian National Art Museum KUMU.

    Tõnis Tamme, the member of board at Rail Baltic Business Network and Attorney-at-Law will open the conference on behalf of the organizers.

    Kristen Michal, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure of Estonia will give a keynote introduction to the conference. Henrik Hololei, the director General for Mobility and Transport( dG-MoVE) at European Commission will give a presentation on the importance of Rail Baltic for Europe. Baiba Rubesa, CEO of RB Rail Ltd. will talk about „Rail Baltic: Project of the Century for the Baltic States“.

    The analysis session will featureTiina Haapsalo, the chief policy adviser on transport and infrastructure at the Confederation of Finnish Industries, who will discuss the Finnish views on Rail Baltic project. Nauris Klava, head of the pan-Baltic advisory services at Ernst &Young, will introduce the ongoing research on economic viability of Rail Baltic.

    The third session will give an overview of success stories of other similar infrastructure projects, including the story of the Øresund bridge connecting Sweden and Denmark and the story of the Fermern tunnel. These stories are presented by Kim Smedegaard Andersen, Vice Technical
director of Sund & Bælt A/S, who led those projects. The representative of Kaunas Free Economic Zone Vytas Petruzis will talk about the Kaunas free economic zone and its activities. Commentators of the success stories will be prof Erik Terk from Tallinn University and Meelis Niinepuu, partner at CIVITTA, board bember of the Rail Baltic Business Network.

    Henrik Hololei (dG-MoVE), Baiba Rubesa (RB Rail AS), Nauris Klava (E&Y), Erik Laidvee (Transiidikeskuse AS.) and Indrek Orav (Rail Baltic Estonia) will end the conference day with a panel discussion with a topic „Where does the business come from?”.

    The conference will be held in English and is moderated by Neeme Raud, journalist of the Estonian public Broadcasting. The conference is sponsored by Port of Tallinn, Civitta, Triniti, Meta Advisory Group, Eesti Päevaleht, Rail Baltic Estonia and Hilton Park Tallinn.

    Rail Baltic Business Network (RBBN) is a non-profit organization whose aim is to provide its members with the latest information on project’s developments and jointly make sense of the new business opportunities and new emerging transit and logistics chains of the Rail Baltic. RBBN also engages in exchanging direct contacts between the companies that are interested in the project.
