RF Government approves the concept of international transport corridors Primorye-1 and Primorye-2 (from China’s Heilongjiang province to port Nakhodka and from the Jilin province to port Zarubino), says Aleksandr Galushka, Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East.
According to the Minister, the concept was discussed at different expert platforms in Russia and worldwide, including the Eastern Economic Forum. “The concept reflects the attitude of the Russian Government to principal, fundamental issues of these transport corridors development. It is important that such a fundamental and guiding document is approved before the end of this year. … The project will develop dynamically,” he said.
Aleksandr Galushka says National Development and Reform Commission of China has recently expressed their willingness to implement this project together with the Russian side and to work on the required regulatory documents. “We welcome such intentions of the Chinese partners and we are ready for a close, if needed, daily cooperation on the governmental and private levels,” emphasized the Minister.
According to him, the next step is to sign and inter-governmental agreement. Then comes practical discussion of forms and methods to implement the agreement with a Russia-China management company to be set up next to settle practical issues under the project.
Primorye-1 and Primorye-2 international transport corridors are reportedly capable of carrying more than 45 million tonnes of cargo per year.
