The programme for the ‘Arctic: Territory of Dialogue’ International Arctic Forum (March 29–30, Arkhangelsk) includes a roundtable on ‘Addressing the present issues of energy supply to the Arctic regions through resolving hydrocarbon extraction challenges in the same regions’.
This topic takes on a special relevance in the context of the Arctic’s extreme climactic conditions. Participants in the discussion will consider effective mechanisms for supplying energy to remote northern communities.
Invitees to the roundtable will include scientists, technology specialists, and regional leaders. Regional authorities will be involved in discussing how to attract investors and develop small hydrocarbon deposits to provide a reliable point source supply of energy to isolated regions.
The ‘Arctic: Territory of Dialogue’ programme, with the key theme of ‘People and the Arctic’, offers over 40 events, including 32 themed sessions, roundtables, and discussions, two plenary sessions, and an extended session of the State Commission for Arctic Development.
