Vympel Shipyard launches fast patrol boat of Project 12150 Mangust for Sakhalin Border Department of Russia’s FSB (photo)
Vympel Shipyard (Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region) says it launched a fast patrol boat of Project 12150, Mangust (Mongoose) on 23 May 2017. Upon completion of mooring/sea trials and state tests, the ship will be delivered to the customer and will be deployed by Russian FSB Border Department for the Sakhalin Region with Nevelsk as a homeport.
The Mangust class fast patrol cutters of Project 12150 maximum speed – 50 knots) designed by Almaz Design Bureau are intended to be on duty for frontier safety, to support on-call actions conducted within territorial waters, to monitor the vessels’ compliance with regulations governing the shipping conditions within the outer and inner harbours and ports, to perform missions falling within the scope of duties of maritime law enforcement agencies, customs and fishery protection authorities.
