According to Production Express, the sea-rail intermodal transport volume of Ningbo Zhoushan Port has reached 254,000 TEUs as of August 31st, increased by 72% year on year. The port took only eight months to surpass the total volume of the previous year and further consolidated its position as the first major port in sea-rail intermodal transport in south China.

Since the beginning of this year, Ningbo Zhoushan Port has optimized and integrated the internal platform and resources of container sea-rail intermodal transport and has continuously promoted service efficiency through advanced operation and management mode. In April, Beilun Railway Station Sea-rail Intermodal Integrated Operation Center was put into operation and realized unified management of business, equipment, staffs and truck team.

The ratio for fulfillment of production plan was increased from original 78% to over 90%. In May, the real-time instruction confirmation system for the operation of sea-rail handling vehicles was successfully put on line in Beilun Railway Station. Ningbo Zhoushan Port started to enter “paperless era” for sea-rail intermodal operation. In June, National Container Sea-rail Intermodal IoT Application (Ningbo Port) Demonstration Project passed acceptance check by the Ministry of Transport. It provided new solution for the consignors to obtain the real-time updated information of sea-rail intermodal containers and improve the safety and operation efficiency of sea-rail intermodal business.

Externally, Ningbo Zhoushan Port further expanded the hinterland cargo sources and continued to expand business territory. The port fully leveraged the advantage of the linkage between sea ports and land ports to provide whole process customized “door-to-door” logistics services for the major clients. In addition, the port improved the efficiency of empty containers allocation through “regional linkage and sharing of container sources” and won the trust from many domestic top 500 customers, such as JAC and Jiangling Motors and continuously expanded the scope of cooperation for sea-rail intermodal business.

Meanwhile, while consolidating the cargo sources within Zhejiang province, Ningbo Zhoushan Port opened two new regular trains to Nanchang and Zhumadian city and successfully developed sea-rail intermodal routes and services to Lhasa, Emeishan and Fuyang, etc.. Also, the port realized full coverage of sea-rail intermodal routes in the territory of Jiangxi province and extended sea-rail intermodal services to south Suzhou for the first time, thus further expanded the hinterland territory outside Zhejiang province. At present, Ningbo Zhoushan Port totally owns 11 sea-rail intermodal regular trains and has expanded business to 34 cities in 13 provinces throughout China.
