The Board of United Shipbuilding Corporation has agreed the contract of Shipyard Severnaya Verf Shipyard (part of USC) with three fishing companies: LLC Virma, LLC Globus and LLC ArktikrybFlot for the construction of a series of four longline factory ships, the shipbuilder said in a press release.
Two longliners will be built for Vyrma, and one for each of the two customers. The series delivery is scheduled for 2022.
Igor Ponomarev, CEO, Severnaya Verf told the contract execution schedule had been agreed with its clients taking into account shipbuilding investment tools, benefits, known as "quotas per keel."
A longline factory vessel features high-technology and ecological fishing method with automated installation and hauling lines, with equipment for complete, non-waste processing and storage of the catch directly on board the ship. The longliner reference design documents was developed by Norway based Marin Teknikk AS. Detailed engineering, technological and operational documentation will be developed by a Russian naval architecture and marine engineering firm.
Lonliner particulars: Displacement – over 2,000 tonnes; LOA – 58.6 meters, Beam – 13 meters.
Globus LLC general director Andrey Zaika said that their longliner is intended for catching cod and haddock in the Barents and Norwegian seas. Severnaya Vert was chosen as an experienced builder of longliners, offering best conditions for clients.
