Nobel laureate will speak at VIII International Forum "Arctic: Today and the Future" with a report on climate change

The laureate of the collective Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, the head of the department of climate change research at the State Hydrological Institute Oleg Anisimov will take part in the business program of the VIII International Forum "Arctic: Today and the Future." The event organizers say he will speak at the working session "Climate Change and Melting of Permafrost Thaw".

Oleg Anisimov is a regular participant in the business program of the forum. This year, the scientist will devote his report to changes in the Arctic cryolithozone.

Studies conducted in the Far North are of particular relevance during global climate change. They question the effectiveness of long-term development strategies of the macro-region, which do not take into account climatic factors. The "Climate Doctrine of the Russian Federation" notes that the Arctic region, which is most important for studying the causes and mechanisms of climate change, is still inaccessible for continuous hydrometeorological research. In these conditions, the output could be the formation of a separate climate doctrine of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.

These issues will form the basis for expert discussions at the working session "Climate Change and Melting of Permafrost Thaw".
