Throughput of Russian seaports in 2018 grew by 3.8% Y-o-Y to 816.5 million tonnes (detalization)

In January-December 2018, seaports of Russia handled 816.5 million tonnes of cargo (up 3.8%, year-on-year), says press center of the Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry cargo totaled 387.4 million tonnes (+3.8%) including 161.4 million tonnes of coal (+4.4%), 55.7 million tonnes of grain (+16.3%), 53.6 million tonnes of containerized cargo (+11.1%), 30.4 million tonnes of ferrous metal (+7.6%), 17.8 million tonnes of mineral fertilizers (+0.1%) and 5.5 million tonnes of timber (+7.3%).

Thran of liquid bulk cargo totaled 429.1 million tonnes (+3.9%) including 255.4 million tonnes of crude oil (+1.2%), 145.1 million tonnes of oil products (+2.4%) and 23.2 million tonnes of liquefied gas (up 1.6 times).

Exports totaled 623.8 (+3.0%), imports - 37.3 million tonnes (+3.2%), transit - 64.0 million tonnes (+9.8%), short-sea traffic - 91.4 million tonnes (+6.2%).

Operators of seaports in the Arctic Basin handled 92.7 million tonnes of cargo (+26.4%, year-on-year) including 62.3 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+41.0%) and 30.4 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+4.3%). The port of Murmansk Грузооборот handled 60.7 million tonnes (+18.1%), Sabetta - 17.4 million tonnes (up 2.3 times), Arkhangelsk - 2.8 million tonnes (+15.5%).

Operators of seaports in the Baltic Basin handled 246.3 million tonnes (-0.5%) including 136.5 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-4.1%) and 109.8 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+4.5%). The port of Ust-Luga handled 98.7 million tonnes (-4.4%), Primorsk - 53.5 million tonnes -7.1%), Big Port St. Petersburg - 59.3 million tonnes (+10.6%), Vysotsk - 18.8 million tonnes (+7.1%), Kaliningrad - 14.1 million tonnes (+1.5%).

Operators of seaports in the Azov-Black Sea Basin handled 272.2million tonnes (+0.9%) including 119.1 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+0.4%) and 153.1 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+1.3%). The port of Novorossiysk handled 154.9 million tonnes (+5.0%), Rostov-on-Don - 16.7 million tonnes (+11.5%), Tuapse - 25.6 million tonnes (-3.7%), Kavkaz - 30.1 million tonnes (-14.9%), Taman - 14.1 million tonnes (-6.0%).

Operators of seaports in the Caspian Basin handled 4.8 million tonnes of cargo (+21.6%) including 2.6 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (-6.9%) and 2.2 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (up 1.9 times).  The port of Makhachkala handled 2.5 million tonnes (up 1.8 times), Astrakhan - 1.9 million tonnes (-16.7%).

Operators of seaports in the Far East Basin handled 200.5 million tonnes (+4.5%) including 125.5 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+6.8%) and 75.0 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+1.0%). Vanino port handled 29.5 million tonnes (+0.9%), Nakhodka - 24.3 million tonnes (+0.1%), Vladivostok - 21.2 million tonnes (+24.7%), De-Kastri - 12.6 million tonnes (+16.7%), Prigorodnoye - 17.0 million tonnes (-2.1%), Posiet - 7.1 million tonnes (-7.7%), Vostochny - 63.7 million tonnes (almost flat, year-on-year).

Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports. forwarding and agency companies. scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
