Nuclear-powered LASH carrier / container carrier Sevmorput moored at the Economia terminal in Arkhangelsk on 26 April 2019. According to the press center of Arkhangelsk Commercial Seaport, the loading works have been performed according to the schedule. The ship has been loaded with 26,000 tonnes of general cargo.
The Sevmorput will deliver the cargo to the Utrenneye field in the Gulf of Ob.
According to senior cargo officer Sergey Bralgin, polystyrene, insulation material used for road construction in cold deserts of the Arctic make the bulk of the cargo.
The nuclear-powered icebreaking combo LASH carrier / container ship Sevmorput (named after the Northern Sea Route) was built at Kerch, USSR based Zaliv Shipyard. The Sevmorput was laid down on November 2, 1984, launched on February 20, 1986 and put into operation on December 31, 1988.
Key characteristics of nuclear-powered container carrier Sevmorput: nuclear power unit of 29 MW (40,000 h.p.), LOA – 260.23 m, BOA – 32.20 m, displacement to the summer load line (SLL)– 61,880 tonnes, deadweight with SLL draft – 33,980 tonnes, able to carry 1,320 ISO 20 containers, 428 ISO 40 containers.
