Term of office of Sergey Baryshnikov, Rector of Makarov University, extended for 5 years
The term of office of Sergey Baryshnikov, Rector of Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping (Makarov University) has been extended for 5 years, till 2024, says press center of the University.
Sergey Baryshnikov, Doctor of Technical Science, Professor, has been holding the post of the Rector of Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping from 2012 when the educational institution was set up through reorganization of two large industry-focused higher educational institutions - St.-Petersburg State University of Waterway Communications (SPSUWC) and Admiral Makarov State Maritime Academy (SMA) in the form of affiliation of the Academy to the University.
Sergey Baryshnikov is the head of the Department for Engineering Design Basis at Makarov University’s Water Transport Institute. Being an author of more than 70 R&D and academic articles he has numerous awards including the Honored Worker of Transport and the Honored Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
Professor Baryshnikov is the Head of the North-Western Branch of the Transport Academy of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Education Coordinating Council for the Rectors Council of St. Petersburg, a member of the Maritime Council under the Government of Saint-Petersburg, a member of the Education Board of Rosmorrechflot, the Association of Shipping Companies, the Association of Russian Ports, the Council of Russian Shipowners.
