Russian RTL boosts imported cars shipments by 18.5%

RTL Group of companies in 2011 increased by 18.5% year-over-year the volume of imports into Russia of news passenger cars, having cleared of 271,231 cars, the Group said Thursday.


In 2011, transshipment of vehicles via sea and land terminals operated by the Group across Russia soared by 53.5% to 156,257 vehicles, manufactured by Nissan, Renault, GM, Peugeot, Citroen, Ford, Toyota, Mazda and other carmakers.


During the year, RTL Group operated at terminals based at Big Port of St. Petersburg, in the Far East, Novoshakhtinsk of Rostov region, providing cargo clearance service at customs posts of the Russian Federation.


RTL Group (RTL) was founded in 2004 as a 3PL provider. In 2005, the company started operating directly with major car manufacturers. The company is a leader on the market of customs clearance of vehicles, specializes in providing best logistics solutions for import of vehicles, equipment, auto parts, etc for car assembly plants. In 2006, RTL Group in conjunction with Marine Fish Port commissioned the first Russian marine terminal for handling imported vehicles at the port of St. Petersburg.
