Vladivostok-bound ferry stuck in iceA passenger ferry was nearly trapped in the ice while en route from Russky island to Vladivostok port on January 26, 2011, Primorye 24 reports.
The thickness of ice on the route is about 60-70 cm so the vessel had to plow her way through the ice and slowed down. The sailing lasted about four hours instead of the usual 30-40 minutes. Despite the difficult ice condition, the ferry service between the islands and Vladivostok was not cancelled.
