Hungarian rail workers resume their open-ended nationwide strike Hungarian rail workers have resumed their strike early Monday after weekend negotiations between the biggest rail union and the state railway company collapsed, PRIME-TAS reports. Their nine-hour strike Friday morning crippled domestic and international rail transport in Hungary but the work stoppage was suspended over the weekend to give wage negotiations a chance. The union is demanding a 10-pct wage hike plus a bonus of two-and-a-half months of salary from the revenue generated by the recent sale of the railway company's freight arm, MAV Cargo. The strike resumed on Monday at 3:00 am (0200 GMT). In Budapest, the capital, no trains leave the three main stations. The trains are either cancelled or run out of schedule. Hungarian State Railways tries to arrange bus transportation by certain routes.
