Hyundai to open new sea route with NYK

Hyundai Merchant Marine has agreed with Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), a leading Japanese shipping company, to jointly operate in the container liner trade between Asia, South Africa and East Cost of South America.
The new service called the New Horizon Express will commence in April, replacing NYK’s current New Good Hope Express Service, which has been operating together with Maersk Line and Hamburg Sud.
HMM said NYK and HMM aim to provide a better level of service quality, through even better integrity of schedules and fast transit times to main markets in Asia, South Africa and East Coast of South America.
HMM said that the New Horizon Express will be a weekly fixed day service operating a total of 10 vessels, eight from NYK and two from HMM, with a weekly capacity of about 2,500 TEUs, covering such port cities as Shanghai, Santos and Buenos Aires.
