Seaport of Klaipeda ups container turnover by 38%, in Jan 08, y-o-y, to 29,100 TEU In January 2008, seaport of Klaipeda increased container handling by 37.9%, year-on-year, to 29,100 TEU, the port’s board informs according to Gudok.Ru referring to Interfax. In January, the port of Klaipeda was the first among the Baltic ports in terms of container throughput and growth rates. The port of Riga handled 16,700 TEU (+19.2%), Tallinn - 13,400 TEU (+9.5%), Ventspils - 1,300 TEU (+18.7%). In 2007, the port of Klaipeda increased container throughput by 38.8%, year-on-year, to 321,400 TEU, Riga – by 19.8% to 211,800 TEU, Tallinn – by 18.7% to 180,900 TEU, Ventspils – by 18.3% to 16,800 TEU.
