Cargo traffic within Azov-Don Basin of Russia’s IWWs down 5.7% to 9.68 mln t mln t in 11M’17

By 1 December 2017, cargo traffic within Azov-Don Basin of Russia’s IWWs totaled 9.682 mln t (-5.7%. year-on-year), Azov-Don Basin Administration told IAA PortNews.

Transportation of transit cargo fell by 4.8% to 8.010 mln t, domestic cargo turnover – by 9.6% to 1.672 mln t.

In the reporting period, Azov-Don Basin Authority registered 5,613 vessel movements including 2,794 downward and 2,819 upward (versus 6,211 movements in the same period of 2016: 3,094 downward and 3,117 upward).  

In November 2017, cargo traffic within Azov-Don Basin dropped by 12.2% to 903,000t. Transportation of heavy fuel oil grew by 41.6% to 310,000 t. In the reporting period, transportation of grain totaled 140,000 t, diesel fuel – 88,000 t, sulphur – 152,000 t, vacuum gasoil – 87,000 t. Transit cargo flow dropped by 10.3% to 732,000 t, internal turnover – by 19.7% to 171,000 t.

In November 2017, Azov-Don Basin Authority registered 526 vessel movements including 279 downward and 247 upward (versus 681 in November 2016: 355 downward and 326 upward).

The total length of the waterways in the area of responsibility Azov-Don Basin Administration is 691.3 kilometers.

The Federal Azov-Don Basin Administration is responsible for management and control of inland waterways of the Don River Don from the lower access channel of Lock No 15 (Tsimlyansk Reservoir) to the village of Aksai (the 3121-km stretch of the Don), except for Nikolayevsky and the Konstantinovsky hydroengineering facilities, and the tributaries of the Don River, Seversky Donets (from Krasny farm to the mouth) and the Manych River (from the Novo-Manychskaya Dam to the mouth). The total length of the Azov-Don Basin Administration managed inland waterways reaches 691.3 km.‎
