Throughput of port Kaliningrad in Jan-June’2019 fell by 19% Y-o-Y to 5.82 million tonnes

In January-June 2019, the port of Kaliningrad handled 5,826,700 tonnes of cargo, down 19%, year-on-year, says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo dropped by 25% to 848,000 tonnes including 495,300 tonnes of coal (-8%), 4,200 tonnes of mineral fertilizers (-32%) and 336,600 tonnes of other cargoes (-42%).

Transshipment of dry loose cargo declined by11% to 1,991,200 tonnes, general cargo – by 8% to 683,700 tonnes.

The port also handled 378,700 tonnes of cargo carried by ferries (-41%) and 1,198,200 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-35%) including 469,000 tonnes of oil products (-60%), 274,300 tonnes of crude oil (-7%) and 425,000 tonnes of food cargo (+19%).

The port’s container throughput grew by 33%, year-on-year, to 163,981 TEUs.
