- At the level of corporation we are currentl discussing the creation of unified competence centers. One of them will specialize in shipboard furniture. It will be established at the premises of our company which, in partnership with key players in the Russian market and foreign engineers, will create interiors up to a luxury class. We see a certain economic advantage in it.
The second one – a center of propulsion technologies – will be established on the basis of Design Bureau “Vint” and Severodvinsk based “Zvezdochka”. It will specialize in manufacture of mechanical propulsion units of up to 6 MW. Then, together with our key manufacturers of diesel engines we will develop production of such units which are a heart of any ship…
We meet our customers’ demand. Let’s say, a customer wants 95% of imported comonents on a new icebreakers – can we go against? But now we are in trouble caused by an exchange rate difference. The delivery delay after an incident should be attributed to the necessity of new foreign orders, which means three or four months.
Nevertheless, I believe in Decree no 719 being developed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to regulate determination of shipboard equipment origin. It’s application is essential but if we do not start moving now, nothing will work.
