Opinions11.07.2010State Duma member Vitaly Yuzhilin comments on the agreement between the United Russia’s project "Saint-Petersburg, the Russian naval capital” and the Association of cruise market participants."The main thing for us today is the modernization of the transport network and passenger fleet. We expect the participants of the Association of the cruise market to offer specific proposals. We will ensure legislative support, and will lobby in the government the development of sea and river tourism issues. We have a beautiful country, we have a lot of sights, and the development of cruising does offer an excellent opportunity to do it. Improved transport infrastructure will not only make boating more popular among Russians, but also attract foreign tourists to our country. Then foreign investors would come, I believe. In St. Petersburg the passenger port "Marine Façade" has being constructed. By 2013, the sea port of Sochi reconstruction is scheduled to be completed. The establishment of such large infrastructure of international standard level will help to attract new funds to our economy. However, the system of ports must be developed throughout Russia, river stations and marinas. To actively build new vessels for our passenger ships fleet that would meet the generally accepted world standards of comfort and security. Only then will we be able to compete on the global tourism market." Print version |
