APL unveils Japan-Russia service
American President Lines (APL) has launched a weekly Japan-Russia service, which it claims is the only of its kind currently available.
The Japan Russia Express (JRX) will be jointly operated with Russian logistics firm Fesco and will commence sailing from Yokohama on August 24.
Cargo travelling from Yokohama to Vostonchny and Vladivostock will be delivered in seven and nine days respectively, while shipments from Kobe to the same two Russian ports will arrive in four and six days respectively.
After arriving in Vostonchny and Vladivostock, freight can be shifted onto the Trans-Siberian railway and travel to central Russia as well as the European Union.
Fesco claimed the new service would bring the transit time between Japan and Moscow down from 27 days to 20 days.
Shippers from Japan and Russia may also connect to other global markets via Busan, where the JRX service will make a call.
The service’s rotation is as follows: Vostochny – Vladivostok – Yokohama – Shimizu – Nagoya – Kobe – Busan- Vostochny.
