Gas production climbs in Russia
Russia's natural gas output grew 1.4 percent to 234bn cubic meters in January-April 2008 compared to the same period a year earlier, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported today. In April alone, gas production rose 1.3 percent year-on-year and reached some 57bn cubic meters.
According to the former Industry and Energy Ministry's estimate, gas output dipped 0.8 percent to 650.76bn cubic meters in 2007. Meanwhile, the ministry expects a 3-percent increase in gas production to 673bn cubic meters in 2008.
