IMO auditors start working at oil terminal in Primorsk
Auditors of the International Maritime Organization have commenced work at oil terminal of Commercial Seaport Primorsk LLC (port Primorsk, Leningrad region). As PortNews IAA learnt from the terminal representatives, the auditors are currently inspecting the port’s treatment facilities, cargo berths and storage facilities for rescue equipment.
The team of IMO auditors in Russia is headed by Mr. Hemming Hindborg, head of the Danish Division of the Centre for Seafarers and Fishermen, Danish Maritime Authorities, and Mr. Tadeush Voitashik, chief specialist of the Department for Safe Navigation of the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure.
International Maritime Organization (IMO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations. The IMO's primary purpose is to develop and maintain a comprehensive regulatory framework for shipping and its remit today includes safety, environmental concerns, legal matters, technical co-operation, maritime security and the efficiency of shipping. IMO was established in Geneva in 1948. Russian Federation is a member of IMO Council.
