Cargo turnover of Yuzhny port up 0.1% in 11M06
Cargo turnover of Yuzhny port (Ukraine) totaled 18723 thou tons in January-November 2006 (+0.1% against year-on-year result), the port’s press center informed PortNews IAA. In the 11-month period the port handled 12630.4 thou tons of cargo (-1.8% against similar period of the previous year).
In November, cargo turnover of the port totaled 1659.2 thou tons (-9.3%, year-on-year 2005). In November the port handled 1081.9 thou tons of cargo (-12.9%).
Yuzhny port is located at the north-western coast of the Black Sea, in ice-free Maly Adzhalyksky (Grigorievsky) estuary, 30 km from Odessa port. The port is capable of handling up to 15 million tons of cargo per year. Major directions of transportation are the basins of the Black and Mediterranean Seas, Latin America, USA, Middle East, South-East Asia. The majority of transit cargo (90%) come from Russia, Moldavia, Kazakhstan and Byelorussia.
