    Рост популяции медуз истощает рыбные ресурсы в Средиземном и Черном морях – ООН

    Стремительный рост популяции медуз - одна из возможных причин истощения рыбных запасов в Средиземном и Черном морях. Как передает «Радио ООН», об этом говорится в новом докладе Продовольственной и сельскохозяйственной ООН. Эксперты предлагают отлавливать медуз и использовать их в производстве продукции, применяемой для омоложения человека.

    В докладе отмечается, что чрезмерный отлов «хищной» рыбы является одним из факторов роста популяции медуз. Размножаясь, они также вносят свою лепту в сокращение популяций рыб, поедая большое количество личинок и мальков. Авторы доклада предлагают государствам учитывать эти факторы при разработке любого экосистемного подхода к управлению рыбными ресурсами.

    Медузы находятся в избытке почти во всех океанах мира и уже начинают вытеснять рыбу. И хотя причины этого феномена до конца не изучены, они могут, помимо чрезмерного рыболовства, быть связаны с глобальным потеплением, приводящим к увеличению количества морских особей, которые водятся в тропических широтах, а также с эвтрофикацией, которая повышает содержание питательных веществ в воде, говорится в сообщении.

    В докладе изложены рекомендации государствам, направленные на предотвращение стремительного роста численности медуз. Эксперты предлагают более активно их отлавливать для производства продовольствия и медицинских препаратов. Некоторые виды медуз уже служат источником продовольствия в нескольких странах. Среди прочего, в документе привлекается внимание к так называемой «бессмертной медузе», Turritopsis nutricula, способной останавливать процесс старения. Она может послужить основой для разработки продукции, применяемой для омоложения человека.
