Port of Napier sees box throughput rise 9pc in 2006
New Zealand's Port of Napier has reported a 15 per cent increase in profits to just under NZ$7 million (US$4.83 million) in 2006 compared to last year. Container throughput rose by nine per cent to 140,000 TEU, which is described as being a record by a report in the National Business Review. The port has secured the patronage of the world's largest container shipping line, Maersk, which will call weekly with its largest containerships.
