The average age of bunker tankers operating on Russia's inland waterways has reached 42 years, the IAA PortNews analytical department's review shows.
The problem of aging, worn-out fleet of inland bunker vessels needs a comprehensive approach and should be solved along with the development of services for the inland water transport (IWT).
Russian Government has adopted the "Strategy of Development of Inland Water Transport to 2030", which outlined the problems hindering the development of the domestic shipping industry and suggested possible solutions to the problem.
The bunker suppliers community noted the need to strictly monitor the implementation of the Strategy and its funding.
