    В Акабе (Иордания) прошел семинар по изучению Лондонского протокола, защите морской среды от отходов (фото)

    На семинаре, проходившем 28-30 ноября 2016 года в г. Акабе (Иордания) под эгидой Международной морской организации (IMO), изучались нормативные положения и их применение, касающиеся сброса отходов в море, в том числе с судов. Как сообщает пресс-служба IMO, мероприятие было направлено на широкое ознакомление с положениями ‎‎Лондонского протокола‎‎, который вступил в силу десять лет назад, дополнив Лондонскую конвенцию («Конвенция по предотвращению загрязнения моря сбросами отходов и других материалов»), которая вступила в силу в 1975 году, и в том же году была ратифицирована в том числе и Иорданией.

    Согласно Лондонскому протоколу, все сбросы отходов в море запрещены, за исключением отходов, в обычном порядке согласованных с правительствами стран и содержащихся в официально утвержденном перечне.

    В семинаре, первым подобным мероприятием в Иордании, приняли участие 30 участников из различных морских учреждений, академических кругов и морского флота. На открытии семинара с речью выступил Салах Абу Афифе, генеральный директор Морской комиссии Иордании. Он подчеркнул, что Иордания, как государство расположенное в Красном море, наряду с другими соседними государствами, берут на себя обязательство по защите морской среды от всех источников и причин загрязнения, поступающих либо с суши либо в море.‎

    Участники семинара прослушали лекции, участвовали в дискуссиях, а также совершили поездку для ознакомления с проектом развития прибрежной полосы Ayla.

    Семинар был организован IMO, в сотрудничестве с региональной организацией по сохранению окружающей среды Красного моря и Аденского залива (PERSGA‎‎). Год назад, аналогичное региональное мероприятие было проведено в Джидде (Саудовская Аравия).‎

    Международная морская организация (IMO, ИМО), головной офис которой находится в Лондоне, является специализированным учреждением Организации Объединенных Наций (ООН). Главной задачей ИМО является обеспечение безопасности и надежности судоходства, а также предотвращение загрязнения морской среды судами.
