First batch of MMK rolled metal shipped by Zhibek Zholy, dry cargo ship of Project RSD49

A batch of ferrous metal of Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has been shipped from Aktau Marine North Terminal (AMNT) to Iran by 7,150DWT dry cargo ship Zhibek Zholy (Project RSD49) owned by KTZ Express Shipping, North-Western Shipping Company refers to the press release of JSC "NC" Kazakhstan Temer Zholy".

According to the report, sending has been implemented pursuant to order of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, given at the XIII Forum of interregional cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia on the use of the Aktau port facilities for transportation of Russian goods from Western Siberia, the Southern Urals and other regions of Russia to Iran.

"The new project development of multimodal transportation, linking rail, sea transport and warehouse logistics, implemented by us, is designed to increase the transit-transport potential of Kazakhstan, as well as the volume of Russian cargo, in particular ferrous metals in the Iranian market," said Vice President of Logistics JSC "KTZ Express" Erlan Mahkash.

The attractiveness of this route is caused by the dates of delivery, a highly developed infrastructure ASNT and favorable climatic conditions in the region, which is very important for maritime operations. Metal is today one of the main cargo in the port. For further increase the rate of handling all the conditions are created in the AMNT: modernized methods of cargo handling, recording and marking, staff training is conducted. It should be noted that being on the East coast of the Caspian Sea, 10 km from Aktau international sea port, the North Terminal is a multi-purpose complex for transshipment of goods with a total tonnage of 3 million tons, 650 thousand of which - general cargo, including metal. AMNT is part of an international corridor "Eastern Gate", which links the countries of Middle and Central Asia as well as China and the countries of the Caucasus and the Persian Gulf.

RSD49 project is designed by the Marine Engineering Bureau.

Nevsky Shipyard built for Kazakhstan's customer "KTZ Express Shipping" two multipurpose dry cargo vessels with a deadweight of 7150 tons of container capacity 289 TEU of RSD49 project "Zhibek Zholy" (building number 408) and "Atameken" (building number 409).
