    15 февраля исполняется 100 лет со дня рождения Тимофея Борисовича Гуженко (1918-2008), легендарного министра морского флота СССР, Героя Социалистического труда, одного из основателей крупнейшей в России судоходной компании «Совкомфлот».

    Т.Б. Гуженко родился 15 февраля 1918 г.  в деревне Татариново Орловской губернии в семье кузнеца. Окончил в 1942 г. Одесский институт инженеров морского флота, а позже – Ленинградскую Военно-морскую академию кораблестроения и вооружения им. А. Н. Крылова.

    В годы войны Т.Б. Гуженко работал в Мурманском морском торговом порту, обеспечивая прием легендарных полярных конвоев с военными и гражданскими грузами, необходимыми фронту. В послевоенные годы – начальник Холмского, а затем  Корсаковского морских торговых портов. В 1955 г. Т.Б. Гуженко возглавил Сахалинское морское пароходство, став самым молодым (в возрасте 37 лет) начальником пароходства в СССР. С 1966 г. – первый заместитель Министра морского флота СССР, а с 1970 г. – Министр морского флота СССР. Т.Б. Гуженко трудился в этой должности до октября 1986 г.

    Удивительная работоспособность, целеустремленность, сильная воля, решимость и стратегическое мышление, глубокое знание предмета позволили Тимофею Борисовичу стать высочайшим профессионалом в морском деле и успешным государственным руководителем важнейшей отрасли народного хозяйства страны.

    С именем Т.Б. Гуженко связано становление советского морского флота, как конкурентоспособной, высокотехнологичной и прибыльной отрасли, вобравшей лучшую техническую мысль и новейшие достижения науки. Когда Т.Б. Гуженко стал министром, морской флот СССР являлся дотационной отраслью. В 1980-х годах Минморфлота СССР по объёму валютных поступлений занял пятое место в табеле о рангах среди 80 отраслевых министерств и пятое место в мире по дедвейту флота.

    Бесспорным успехом того времени, достигнутым при непосредственном участии Т.Б. Гуженко, явилось заключение ряда двусторонних межправительственным соглашений в области морского судоходства, позволивших советскому торговому флоту на равных конкурировать с крупнейшими игроками на рынке морских перевозок грузов.

    При непосредственном участии Т.Б. Гуженко в 1973 году Совет Министров СССР разрешил Минморфлоту СССР проведение бербоут-чартерных операций и сформировал источники их финансирования. Этот шаг стал основой для создания в 1988 году Акционерного коммерческого предприятия «Совкомфлот».

    Т.Б. Гуженко внес огромный вклад в развитие арктического судоходства. 17 августа 1977 г. экспедиция на атомном ледоколе «Арктика» под его руководством впервые в истории человечества достигла Северного полюса на надводном судне. После успешного рейса «Арктики» началась системная работа по расширению временных рамок арктической навигации, а в районах максимальных грузопотоков (порты Дудинка, Игарка, Анадырь) навигация стала круглогодичной. За эту экспедицию Тимофей Борисович был удостоен высокого звания Героя Социалистического труда.

    Т.Б. Гуженко был удостоен многих почетных званий: кавалер ордена «За морские заслуги», четырех орденов Ленина, орденов Октябрьской Революции, Трудового Красного Знамени, Красной Звезды, «Знак Почета» и медалей «За трудовую доблесть».

    Именем Тимофея Гуженко назван арктический челночный танкер «Совкомфлота», предназначенный для морской транспортировки нефти с находящегося в арктическом регионе стационарного морского ледостойкого отгрузочного причала (СМЛОП) «Варандей» в порт Мурманск.

    На танкере применены уникальные технические решения, позволяющие судну эффективно работать в арктических морях в условиях круглогодичной навигации. Его дедвейт составляет более 70 тыс. тонн, длина – 256 м., ширина – 34 м. Танкер обладает высоким ледовым классом Arc6, оснащен двумя винторулевыми  колонками типа «Азипод» суммарной мощностью 20 МВт, системой динамического позиционирования и способен самостоятельно преодолевать лед толщиной до 1,5 м. Танкер работает под государственным флагом Российской Федерации и эксплуатируется отечественным экипажем. Порт приписки — Санкт-Петербург.
