    Cargo turnover at inland water ways of Azov-Don Basin down 4% to 1,989 million tonnes

    As of 1 June 2018, cargo turnover at inland water ways of Azov-Don Basin totaled fell by 4% to 1.989 million tonnes, says official website of Azov-Don Basin Administration.

    Domestic cargo turnover grew by 18% to 355,000 tonnes, transit cargo turnover fell by 8% to 1.634 million tonnes.

    As of 1 May, turnover of vessels totaled 1,291 including 586 vessels moving downward and 705 vessels moving upward (vs 1,288 units in the same period of 2017: 594 and 694 accordingly).

    Navigation on the Lower Don river opened on 20 March 2018. Transit navigation opened on 1 April 2018.

    In May, total cargo turnover at inland water ways of Azov-Don Basin was almost flat, year-on-year, (+0.4%) making 1.383 million tonnes. Heavy fuel oil accounted for 34.2% of total turnover, wheat – 15.3%, diesel fuel – 11.1%. The flow of transit cargoes grew by 2.5% to 1.234 million tonnes, Domestic cargo turnover fell by 14.4% to 149,000 tonnes.

    May turnover of vessels totaled 801 units (378 downward and 423 upward vs 799 units in May 2017 (368 downward and 431 upward).

    The Federal Azov-Don Basin Administration is responsible for management and control of inland waterways of the Don River Don from the lower access channel of Lock No 15 (Tsimlyansk Reservoir) to the village of Aksai (the 3121-km stretch of the Don), except for Nikolayevsky and the Konstantinovsky hydroengineering facilities, and the tributaries of the Don River, Seversky Donets (from Krasny farm to the mouth) and the Manych River (from the Novo-Manychskaya Dam to the mouth). The total length of the Azov-Don Basin Administration managed inland waterways reaches 691.3 km.‎
