New Liebherr crane delivered to Yug-2 terminal of Ust-Luga seaport

On 23 July 2018, heavy load carrier AURA delivered new Liebherr LHM 420 crane to Multipurpose Terminal “Yug-2” (the port of Ust-Luga) from Germany. The crane manufactured in Rostock is the fifth crane of AO Commercial Sea Port of Ust-Luga, says press center of the stevedoring company.

The three-party contract between CSP Ust-Luga JSC, Liebherr Rusland LLC and LH Financial Services LLC on the delivery of a rubber-tyred mobile harbour crane, the Liebherr LHM 420, was signed as part of the business programme of the TransRussia exhibition in Moscow by Yevgeny Savkin, Director General, Commercial Sea Port of Ust-Luga JSC; German Ignatov, Sales Director, Liebherr Rusland LLC and Nikolay Ilyukhin, sales representative,  LH Financial Services LLC. The contract was signed with financing raised through leasing (lessor - LH Financial Services LLC).

The crane capacity is 84 tonnes. With its maximum outreach of 48 meters the crane is ideal for loading/unloading of different vessels.

The LHM 420 is designed for efficient handling of different types of cargo. It features outstanding mobility and maneuverability with a possibility to move longitudinally, diagonally, and even slewing on the spot. The crane is fitted with economy software for optimised fuel consumption and low temperature package.

“One of the key tasks of our company is to ensure sustainable development and improvement of the operation process. Special attention is paid to technical upgrading of the terminal. The new crane meets all current requirements to handling equipment. It will let considerably increase the efficiency of transshipment”, said Yevgeny Savkin.

The new crane will be put into operation in early August upon completion of the required procedures and personnel training at the LIEBHERR plant in Germany.

AO Commercial Sea Port of Ust-Luga is a stevedoring company operating Multipurpose Terminal YUG-2 and Auto-Railway Ferry Terminal. In 2017, the terminals handled 3.8 million tonnes of cargo.
