Bureau Veritas Chongqing Liansheng wins Global Project Excellence Award of IPMA 2018

On October 30, 2018, the award ceremony for the International Project Management Association’s (IPMA) 2018 Global Project Excellence Award was held in Helsinki, Finland.

Thousands of experts in project management from all over the world gathered to discuss trends and current issues in global construction project management while waiting for the winner of the Global Project Excellence Award to be revealed. The Inner Mongolia Minority Sports Culture Project (hereinafter referred to as Racecourse Project), managed by Chongqing Liansheng Construction Project Management Co., Ltd., a member company of Bureau Veritas (hereinafter referred to as Bureau Veritas Chongqing Liansheng) was finally announced as the winner of the Global Project Excellence Award. This award is the first prize for project management consultation enterprises, a pioneer in the project management industry.

The IPMA Global Project Excellence Award is bestowed by the International Project Management Association (IPMA). The association was founded in Lausanne in 1965, as the first non-Governmental project management organization. The professional awards it confers are the highest honors in the field of international project management – especially the Global Project Excellence Award launched in 2001, the so-called "Oscar" in Project Management.

Winning the IPMA Annual Global Excellence Awards is no mean feat. Not only do the quality, safety, investment and progress of a project under evaluation have to meet international standards, but they also have to be recognized by all stakeholders. The judging panel place greater importance on a project’s value creation, which means they investigate the team's overall ability and technology, as well as management methods, tools, systems, processes, new technology and local culture and environment.

After 6 months of application, review, evaluation and reply, the Racecourse Project finally won awards in many international projects – an accomplishment attributed to Bureau Veritas’s domestic advanced and world-leading management capabilities. The Racecourse Project, covering an area of 1,800 acres, with a total investment of RMB 830 million, was chosen as the main venue of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Because of the complex construction process, high construction requirements and other difficulties due to peculiar design molding, complex construction structure and short contract period, the project confronted huge challenges to its management and plan implementation. In an effort to ensure the project’s smooth progress, Bureau Veritas Chongqing Liansheng leveraged its excellent creating ability based on integrated project management mode and BIM technology, which provided technical consultation and support for the whole process, as well as management and investment consultation and quality and safety control.

Under the integrated management system, Bureau Veritas Chongqing Liansheng packaged and integrated management technology and various types of consulting and supervision, realized one-stop service, and opened up links for construction, design, bidding, etc. The revolutionary BIM technology was employed to manage the large complex of the Racecourse, which was a brave attempt and great innovation. This practice raised the conceptual application and partial management of technology to a systematic, all-round, multi-dimensional management level of the project. The project became a typical case of "integrated process management based on BIM technology" led by Bureau Veritas group. On August 8, 2017, the 70th anniversary of the founding of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was successfully celebrated in the Racecourse and won high praise from the Central Delegation.

Since its foundation, Bureau Veritas has been devoted to providing world-leading services to help customers overcome increasing challenges in quality, health, safety, environmental and social responsibility. Adhering to the core values of honesty and trustworthiness, objectivity and fairness, customer orientation and safe working, Bureau Veritas has won recognition from most countries and international organizations. The management mode and BIM technology innovation of Bureau Veritas Chongqing Liansheng in project management have become the driving force of Bureau Veritas Chongqing Liansheng. Up to now, Bureau Veritas Chongqing Liansheng Racecourse Project has won the Gold Award of China's Steel Structure, Bentley Global Awards, Jin Yu award, Grassland Cup and many other international awards by applying its world-leading management technology into actual operation. It has established a solid market reputation for the Group.
