    Британский паромный оператор P&O в преддверии Brexit перевел два своих судна под флаг Кипра

    P&O, судоходная компания Великобритании, занимающаяся паромными и грузовыми перевозками перерегистрирует два своих судна под флагом в Великобритании в реестре Кипра. Переход под флаг Кипра, члена Европейского Союза, необходим компании, чтобы сохранить налоговые преимущества перед выходом Великобритании из ЕС, передает агентство Reuters со ссылкой на пресс-службу паромного оператора.

    Эти два судна, меняющие флаг, обслуживают маршрут в проливе Ла-Манш между Англией и Францией.

    В заявлении компании говорится, что «изменение делается для сохранения механизмов финансирования тоннажного налога, в соответствии с которыми суда должны оставаться под флагом в государстве-члене ЕС».

    Пресс-секретарь компании добавил, что P&O пересматривает статус флага еще четырех своих судов, курсирующих на этом же маршруте.

    Данная система налогообложения в ЕС позволяет судоходным компаниям платить корпоративный налог не с прибыли, а с тоннажа своих судов.

    По мнению экспертов, данный шаг может негативно сказаться на флоте Великобритании, после ее выхода из ЕС (до процедуры остается 100 с небольшим дней). По состоянию на ноябрь 2018 года, по официальным данным, в составе флота зарегистрированного под флагом Великобритании, было 1,306 тыс. судов валовым тоннажем свыше 500 тонн на судно. В 2017 году таких судов было 1,317 тыс. единиц, в 2016 году – 1,328 тыс., в 2015 году – 1,330 тыс. и в 2014 году – 1,327 тыс.
