Klaipedos Smelte CT continues with EUR 65 million expansion plan for 2019

Klaipedos Smelte CT continues with EUR 65 million expansion plan for 2019, aimed at lifting annual capacity of the terminal to 800.000 TEU's, says press center of the Port of Klaipeda. On May 3 and May 5 four RTG cranes were delivered by barges from an assembling plant situated in Gdynia, the first batch of the 12 cranes ordered by the terminal earlier in 2018. Delivery of six more RTG cranes is already scheduled for coming months; two ship-to-shore gantries with an outreach of 19 containers across the deck shall be shipped out to Klaipeda in Q4 2019. All container cranes currently deployed at the terminal (3 x STS + 7 x RTG + 4 x RTG new) are produced by Konecranes, a trusted partner of Klaipedos Smelte CT. Despite the fact of transhipment cargo volume declining, Klaipedos Smelte CT remains with an ambitious recovery plan.
