Cargo traffic in Ob-Irtysh Basin slightly down to 7.7 million tonnes
As of 20 October 2019, cargo traffic in the Ob-Irtysh Basin slightly decreased, year-on-year, to 7.7 million tonnes. As the Administration of the Ob-Irtysh Basin told IAA PortNews, the bulk of shipments was made by crashed stone – 3.2 million tonnes (-10%), equipment – 1.7 million tonnes (+5.3%) and sand – 1.3 million tonnes (+7%).
In general, transportation of dry cargo was almost flat at over 7.3 million tonnes.
Passenger transportation grew by 12.2% to over 927,000 passengers.
Administration of the Ob-Irtysh Basin manages 14,627 kilometers of waterways in the Omsk, Tyumen and Sverdlovsk Regions, the Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Areas.
Key waterways in the Basin: Irtysh, Ob, Malaya Ob, Nadymskaya Ob, Khamanelskaya Ob, Pur, Taz, Bolshaya Ob, Gornaya Ob, Kazym, Ob-Taz Bay and streams.
