    Началась работа сезонной российской арктической экспедиции на архипелаге Шпицберген

    Задача исследователей - сбор данных о современном состоянии природной среды и изменениях климата за последние несколько тысячелетий

    Ученые Арктического и антарктического научно-исследовательского института (ААНИИ) начали сезонные работы на научной базе на архипелаге Шпицберген в Северном Ледовитом океане. Задача исследователей – сбор данных о современном состоянии природной среды и изменениях климата за последние несколько тысячелетий. Об этом сообщила медиа-группа ААНИИ.

    На первом этапе сезонной экспедиции запланированы исследования на крупнейшем на архипелаге острове Западный Шпицберген. Будет проведена масштабная снегомерная съемка для определения водозапаса в снежном покрове речных бассейнов. Георадарное зондирование ледников позволит изучить гидротермическую структуру ледниковой толщи и снежного покрова.

    Ученые отберут и проанализируют колонки донных отложений из скованных льдом озер архипелага Шпицберген, что поможет уточнить данные об истории климатических изменений этих территорий. Будут проведены актинометрические наблюдения на леднике Альдегонда и океанологические исследования акватории Исфьорда – второго по длине фьорда на архипелаге Шпицберген.

    «Изучение природной среды Арктики – одна из важнейших научных задач. Арктический климат наиболее чувствителен к изменению количества атмосферных парниковых газов и может считаться наиболее точным естественным индикатором глобальных изменений на планете. Без гидрометеорологической информации из полярных широт построение долгосрочных прогнозов невозможно. Только непрерывный поток климатических данных позволяет отследить и смоделировать скорость и масштаб возможных трансформаций», – отметил Александр Макаров, директор Арктического и антарктического научно-исследовательского института.

    В общей сложности в составе сезонной экспедиции на Шпицбергене сейчас работают 13 ученых-полярников – это специалисты по метеорологии, мерзлотоведению, гляциологии, океанологии, экологии, палеогеографии. В июне ожидается прибытие на Шпицберген еще одной группы ученых – гидрологов.

    Сезонная экспедиция продлится до конца октября 2022 года.

    Российская научная арктическая экспедиция на архипелаге Шпицберген (РАЭ-Ш) проводит круглогодичные и сезонные научные исследования и наблюдения в зоне своего базирования. Программа работ включает изучение ледников, особенностей распространения и динамики многолетней мерзлоты, океанографических процессов в акваториях шпицбергенских фьордов, мониторинг гидрологического режима рек и озер, геофизические и специальные метеорологические исследования. Плановые задачи выполняет зимовочный состав полярников и участники ежегодной сезонной экспедиции. В общей сложности на станции ежегодно работают более 50 ученых.

    Арктический и Антарктический научно-исследовательский институт (ААНИИ) – ведущий мировой научный центр по исследованию полярных областей Земли. Институт проводит весь цикл работ в высоких широтах в интересах Российской Федерации и коммерческих компаний. Научные подразделения института занимаются фундаментальными и прикладными исследованиями климата, процессов в атмосфере, ближнем космосе, морской среде и ледяном покрове.

    ААНИИ является государственным оператором для организации и осуществления деятельности в Арктике и Антарктике. Распоряжением Правительства Российской Федерации от 8.10.2012 г. №1872-р Арктический и антарктический НИИ назначен государственным оператором для организации и осуществления деятельности в Антарктике в интересах Российской Федерации.

    За 100 лет научной работы специалистами института организовано около 1100 экспедиций в Арктику и Антарктиду. В 1993 году институту был присвоен статус государственного научного центра Российской Федерации.
