A.P. Moller-Maersk has taken delivery of Tauranga Mærsk, the second vessel in a six-ship series of 9,000-TEU methanol dual-fuel container ships built by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding in China, according to Maersk.
The vessel was named at the Chinese yard by Linda Wisthus, spouse of Simon Wisthus, head of Maersk project execution management.
Tauranga Mærsk follows Tangier Mærsk, delivered in February as the first ship in the series. Each of the six vessels has capacity of 9,000 TEU and is fitted with dual-fuel engines capable of operating on methanol.
