A.P. Moller - Maersk has named the 9,000-TEU dual-fuel containership Tema Mærsk at Yangzijiang Shipyard in China, according to Maersk.
The Danish group said partners and suppliers attended the ceremony on Friday. It did not give a delivery date or deployment details for the vessel.
Tema Mærsk is part of Maersk’s six-ship mid-sized dual-fuel newbuilding programme at Yangzijiang. The vessels are fitted with dual-fuel engines able to run on methanol.
The first ship in the series, Tangier Mærsk, was delivered at Yangzijiang’s yard in Jingjiang earlier this year. Maersk ordered the six vessels in June 2023, with deliveries scheduled for 2026 and 2027.
The company said at the time that the ships would replace existing fleet capacity and be able to operate on both fuel oil and methanol.
The order took Maersk’s methanol-enabled orderbook to 25 vessels.

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding is a Chinese shipbuilding group whose yards include Yangzijiang Shipyard and Jiangsu Newyangzi Shipbuilding. The group builds merchant vessels including container ships.
