Sovcomflot to register five vessels under Russian flag in St. Petersburg
As it is was noted at the meeting between Valentina Matvienko, the Governor of St.Petersburg, and Sergey Frank, Director General of Sovcomflot OJSC, the cooperation between St. Petersburg Government and Sovcomflot OJSC, Russia’s largest shipping company, the office of which is registered in St. Petersburg, is going on according to the schedule. In particular, Sovcomflot has built a number of unique oil product carriers and other vessels. In early autumn it is planned to launch another Arctic-class vessel, the Mikhail Ulyanov dry cargo carrier, which is being built at Admiralty Shipyards.
By 2009, Sovcomflot plans to register five vessels under Russian flag in St. Petersburg. They are to be deployed for operation at the shelf of the Far North. As Valentina Matvienko noted, those are to become the first vessels to be registered under Russian flag in St. Petersburg. The city government is interested in making its best to implement the project.
