Cargo turnover at the port of Ventspils (Latvia) in January-June 2010 decreased by 8.3% compared with the same period last year, to 13.608 million tons, the Port Authority press release said.
Of the total six-month cargo volume 56.14% were liquid cargoes, 36.75% - bulked cargoes and 7.11% - general ones.
Port of Ventspils, located near the mouth of the river Venta, is equipped with terminals for loading and unloading of crude oil, petroleum products, liquid chemicals, fertilizer, metals, products of timber and fishing industries, coal, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. Last year, the port’s throughput amounted to 26,640,000 tons.
