Cargo turnover of Singapore up 8.1% to 293,3m tons, in Jan-Jul., 2010

Seven-month freight traffic through the Port of Singapore rose by 8.1% from the same period last year, to 293.3 million tons, the Port Authority statistics said.
Crude oil transshipment fell 3.4%, to 101.9 million tons.

The port’s container throughput was up 14% over the same period in 2009, to 16.5 million TEUs.

Singapore, a city-state, is located on an island in the South-East Asia. The last year’s throughput of the Port of Singapore totaled 472 million tons.
