Nine-month volume of container traffic at Ukraine ports increased by 19.5% as compared with last year’s figures, to 441,208 TEUs, the country’s Transport Ministry’s press-service reports citing the State Authority of Maritime and River Transport of Ukraine.
In particular, container volume of the port of Odessa rose by 22 percent from a year earlier, to 224,766 TEUs, Ilyichevsk port handled 212,2 thousand TEUs (+17%) and port of Mariupol – 4,422 TEUs (+38%).
The Ministry has initiated earlier a 50-percent discount for transshipment of transit containers through the Ukrainian ports. In addition, the Transport Ministry has made several changes in regulations of customs control of containerized goods.
