Spot rates on the Asia-US west coast trade marked the sole piece of good news on the rate front last week, rising 0.3 per cent to US$1,824 per FEU, according to the latest Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI), Shippingazette reports.
Rates to the east coast dipped by 0.4 per cent to $2,946 per FEU for the week, while Asia-Europe rates saw a similar decline of 0.3 per cent to $721 per TEU.
The biggest move last week came on the Asia-Mediterranean trade, where rates fell 2.2 per cent to $758 per TEU. SCFI across all trades was down 0.6 per cent to 965.23 points.
