OOCL warns of port congestion surcharge

Hong Kong-based box carrier Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), will apply a port congestion surcharge for shipments from/to the US on October 1, in case of slowdown or work stoppage at any port in the country, reported SeeNews.

Shippers will be charged an additional US$600 per TEU, $750 per FEU and $950 per forty-five foot container, OOCL said.

A port congestion situation may occur in case of labour unrest, including but not limited to strikes.
