In January-October 2017, the Port of HaminaKotka (Finland) handled 12.03 mln t of cargo (+9.7%, year-on-year). According to the port authorities, transshipment of export cargo climbed by 11.2% to 8.79 mln t including 2.23 mln t of paper (+2.1%), 1.33 mln t of cellulose (+3.7%), 1.65 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-4.9%) and 1.19 mln t of dry bulk cargo (+62.9%).
Transshipment of import cargo grew by 6% to 3.24 mln t including 958,930 t of general cargo (+10.1%), 700,370 t of dry bulk cargo (+62.5%) and 919,640 t of liquid bulk cargo (-11.1%).
Transshipment of transit cargo grew by 18.3% to 2.86 mln t, inland traffic dropped by 8.9% to 769,530 t.
Transshipment of containers climbed by 10% to 577,140 TEUs, transshipment of Ro-Ro cargo fell by 2.2% to 12,391 units, automobiles – by 24.4% to 7,835 units.
The number of calls declined by 1.3% to 2,121 calls.
The Port of Kotka is some 50 km from the Russian border, 280 km from St. Petersburg and 1,000 km from Moscow. Port of Kotka comprises ports of Mussalo, Hietanen, Kantasatama, berth Puolanlaituri (Polish berth), berth Halla, and also port premises Sunila. Port of Hamina is the eastern port of Finland located 35 km from the Russian border. In 2016, the port handled 13.4 mln t of cargo.
