Zvezda starts cutting metal for forth 114,000 DWT Aframax tanker ordered by Rosnefteflot

Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex has started construction of the forth 114,000 DWT tanker in the series of Aframax ships.  According to the company, the steel cutting ceremony has been held with involvement of high precision plasma gas cutting machine.

The ceremony has been attended by the shipyard personnel and representatives of the customer, Rosnefteflot JSC.

Aframax takers of the ‘Green’ series are intended for carrying oil and petroleum products in unrestricted navigation. The vessel is designed in accordance with high eco-standards - the main and additional power supply units can operate on the green fuel, the liquefied natural gas.

The most sophisticated shipyard in Russia is equipped with modern units providing for highest-precision methods of marking, welding and cutting of metal, including the laser and 3D-modeling ones.

The series numbers 12 units with the first three units under construction.

That is the forth 114,000DWT Aframax tanker in the series of ten ships ordered by Rosnefteflot. Aframax tankers will be the first of this class built in the Russian Federation. The lead ship is to be launched in 2020.

The lead vessel keel was laid in open-air heavy filling-out ways in September, 2018 in the presense of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin.

Zvezda Shipyard is being established at the Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Centre (FESRC) by a consortium led by Rosneft upon instructions of the President of Russia.

The shipyard projects comprise launched and operating objects, such as the hull production facility, painting cabinets, and open heavy outfitting berth, as well as second-train objects under construction, such as the dry dock, full-cycle production shops, and shops for offshore marine equipment.

Zvezda Shipyard is designed for construction of large-capacity vessels, ice-class vessels with a displacement of up to 350,000 tonnes, special-purpose vessels, and other marine equipment.
