AP Moller Maersk JV to construct Vietnamese container terminal
AP Moller Maersk AS unit APM Terminals said its joint venture, Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT), has signed a contract worth $112 million to construct a new container terminal southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
CMIT, which was formed in 2007 as a joint venture between APM Terminals, state-owned Saigon Ports, and Vietnam National Shipping Line, has signed the contract with a joint venture between Korean contractors POSCO EC and SAMWHAN Corporation.
The container terminal will have a capacity of 1.1 million TEU and is expected to open in late 2010.
