Ukraine insists Russia informs it of shipping movements
With the ceasefire in Georgia still unclear, tension between Russia and Ukraine is increasing. Ukraine has demanded to be informed of the movements of Russian warships based in its waters.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has ruled Russia will need to seek permission to move its Black Sea fleet from its Ukraine base.
Under the rule, the Russians will need to submit an application for approval 10 working days before any ship movement. Ships from Russia's Black Sea fleet have been sitting off Georgia in response to the South Ossetian conflict.
The Russian ships have reportedly sunk a Georgian naval vessel.
Russia holds its war fleet in Ukraine waters under a Friendship and Co-operation Treaty, signed by the two countries.
