Maersk adds Hamburg, drops Southampton calls on AE8 service
Denmark's Maersk Line says it has added a port call at Hamburg to its Asia-Europe 8 service (AE8), but has dropped Southhampton.
The first vessel in the new rotation will be the Maersk Sarnia, voyage number: 0810/0811, which is scheduled to depart from Shanghai on August 30 and arrive in Hamburg on September 29.
"We believe this will be a valuable addition to our direct services between Taiwan, East and South China and Hamburg," a company statement said.
At the same time the carrier will stop the Southampton call on the AE8 service, after the Maersk Taikung, voyage number: 0810, arrives in Southampton on September 19.
The new AE8 port rotation will be: Shanghai, Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, and Hamburg.
It added that four direct services, namely the AE1, AE2, AE9 and AE10, will continue serving the Asia-United Kingdom trade with direct calls to Southampton and Felixstowe.
