The largest Dutch company IHC Merwede B.V. engaged in manufacturing equipment for dredging industry, marine industry and construction of bases has set up its Representative Office of IHC Holland B.V. in Saint Petersburg. It will operate in the territory of Russia, in Baltic States and CIS.

Mr. Govert Hamers and other company executives, Consul General of the Netherlands in St. Petersburg Mr. Antony van der Toht and his Deputy Ms. Asselyn van Aarten as well as a large number of guests – representatives of Russian and foreign companies – attended the celebration.

There is more than a 100-year history of business cooperation and friendship of IHC Merwede B.V. with tsarist Russia and later with the Soviet Union and new democratic Russia. Over this time IHC Merwede, the world leader in manufacturing dredging equipment, has built more than 100 dredges for our country which were successfully used at construction of numerous objects including nearly all largest ports of the USSR.

“We hope for further effective cooperation and would like to sell another 100 dredging vessels but not over a 100-year period” the regional manager of IHC Holland B.V. Mr. Philip de Bats said at the solemn ceremony.

At present Dutch equipment is used at construction of the commercial seaport Ust-Luga, Marine Facade of St. Petersburg and many infrastructural facilities in various regions of Russia. Among the largest partners of IHC Merwede operating at this market the following companies can be named – OJSC “Mezhregiontruboprovodstroy”, OJSC “Podvodtruboprovodstroy”. CJSC “MTA”, CJSC “Baltdraga”, OJSC “NSC”, GT “Morstroy” and other dredging and shipping companies, contractors of coastal facilities and companies engaged in construction of bases.

“A winning advantage of the company IHC Merwede B.V. is continuous development of activity on designing and manufacturing equipment for dredging industry in which it is the leader with control over about 60 % of global market,” – the Director of the Representative Office of IHC Holland B.V. in Russia, Baltic States and CIS Mr. Lev Sysoyev says. – Designing and manufacturing dredge components and control systems are performed in company’s own divisions. Its technical and scientific potential allows manufacturing of not only standard dredges but also construction of dredging vessels that are in conformity with specific requirements of the customer – from simple models to the very advanced modifications that are basically unique. Company’s policy is seen in reaction to the needs of ship owners who require vessels of new concept and up-to-date design, that are built according to an “individual” order or in limited supply. This range of various vessels includes also the very modern self-driven hold suction dredges and large fixed and self-powered milling dredges. Equipment manufactured at company’s shipyards operates successfully in all continents of the world”.

Special consideration is given by IHC Merwede B.V. staff to customer support. It includes consultations on dredging works, supply of spare parts, support manning, crew training, maintenance of excellent working condition of vessels throughout their service lifes and upgrade of technically outdated dredges. The company is unique in terms of providing universal services. Customers from all over the world – both private and state ones – are provided with equipment and services in accordance with their individual requirements. IHC Merwede service centres located worldwide in close vicinity to the largest concentrations of dredging equipment provide recommendations, assistance and effective support at regional level.
